Aviator Glasses Introduction
Posted on: December 2, 2010
Aviator glasses get their name from the teardrop shape of their lens, which mimic the lens of aviator goggles worn by pilots during the early part of the last century. Their shape was designed to cover a person's full viewing angle from sun glare, an attribute pilots would appreciate. The glass version was originally designed by Ray-Ban (also makers of the goggle versions long ago) who continues to be a primary manufacturer of aviator glasses today. These glasses are also typified by a thin metallic frame and a soft gray lens, the tint found in the original versions, though other lens shades are now common.
Aviator glasses exude 'coolness' because of their appealing, minimalist design which accentuates the features of the face. But also theses glasses come with history. By putting them on, one almost feels a sense of the excitement of twisting through the air in an open top biplane!
One of the nice qualities of aviator glasses is that, unlike other sunglass styles, these fit well with most face types. As long as the overall size of the glasses are chosen to be proportional to head size, it will work equally well with round faces, square faces, triangular faces, and anything in between.
Additionally, aviator glasses are thin-framed and therefore compact and lightweight making them easy to carry and comfortable to wear. And despite the thin line appearance of the frames, new materials such as titanium allow the frames to be very strong and durable.
Aviator glasses provide a great look while providing extensive eye protection by virtue of their teardrop shape. Please browse through our vast selection at AviatorGlasses.Net.
